Description:

A58/ A580 Junction is located to the Northeast of St. Helens, on the main road between Manchester and Liverpool; The site is a key junction in the local roads network. As a result of traffic growth and new development in the area, the junction was exceeding capacity and the situation was predicted to get worse as new developments were proposed to be completed in the area. St Helens Council received funding to carry out junction improvement at the junction.

The junction improvement comprised of construction of new turning lanes including all associated civil infrastructure, resurfacing works to the existing junction, new and relocated footways and cycle ways, lighting column upgrades and landscaping. Statutory undertaker diversions were also carried out as part of the scheme.

Subcontract works:

  • TPS were approached by Balfour Beatty to tender for the project following the successful completion of Warrington East Phase 2 & 3 and were appointed following competitive tender.

  • Drainage
  • Earthworks
  • Vacuum excavation
  • Road subbase
  • Road concrete
  • Footways
  • Kerbs & drainage kerbs
  • Ducting
  • Sign bases
  • Material supply
  • Disposal of inert, Non-haz and Hazardous material
