Description:
Protos is a 54-ha energy, innovation and industrial park near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, northwest England. The Phase 1 contract was for delivering over 2 km of new and improved roads, new roundabouts and new and temporary bridge structures.
Subcontract works:
TPS were awarded two separate packages or Phase 1, the foundation works for the new Phase 1 road construction and the delivery of new ecology Areas A & D.
The road works involved the installation of a 6C drainage layer to the road foundations, which was then surcharged with site won material. Band drains were installed by others to allow porewater to drain away more quickly and subsequently speed up the rate of settlement and improve the embankment stability.
The ecology area required a large cut / fill operation including the formation of several ponds. Drainage works were also required with the installation of culverts, overflow weirs and sluice gates to the new ponds / existing watercourses.
TPS scope of works included the following:
