Protos Phase 2

Description:

Phase 2 of Protos provided road access for the new Energy Recovery Facility to be operated by Covanta and the second phase of plots of at Protos to be brought forward for development.

The infrastructure works included new access roads to adoptable standards, new nature areas to create habitats for wading birds and water voles, two new bridges, upgrading the existing canal berth onto the Manchester Ship Canal, water supply to phase 2 plots and new service infrastructure.

Subcontract works:

TPS were approached by John Sisk at the request of Peel Holding’s cost consultants (Turner & Townsend) following the success of the Phase 1 earthworks. The Earthworks package was awarded through competitive tender.

TPS’s scope of work involved importing and placing 6C material to the proposed road sub formation and then covering the 6C with a surcharge of site won material to facilitate settlement of the embankment.

Following the successful completion of the road surcharge works, TPS were asked to complete significant additional works in the construction of three new Ecology Areas as well as a separate Subcontract for the road construction to underside of surfacing.
