Description:
The South Heywood Link Road Scheme comprised the construction of a 2.2km link road from Junction 19 of the M62 motorway to the employment areas off Pilsworth Road.
An infrastructure priority for both the local council and Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM), the link road has provided HGV traffic from the South Heywood employment area – and its numerous logistics parks – with a dedicated route to the motorway, 17km shorter than the existing return journey, and directing HGVs away from Heywood Town Centre, Birch and other local roads.
Subcontract works:
TPS were awarded the Earthworks and Civils package for South Heywood Link Road through competitive tender.
TPS and John Sisk were able to work collaboratively as a team to manage significant change on the project, offering value engineering opportunities that led to major cost and time savings for all parties.

With all change items addressed promptly and effectively, the Final Account was agreed several weeks prior to completion of the works.

- Tactile paving
